As the source and resource of construction financial management in West Michigan, our Association unites individuals having financial responsibilities in the construction industry. We provide a forum through which the Association's members can meet to network and exchange ideas. We promote and encourage leadership within the construction industry, as well as our Association. We develop and coordinate educational programs dedicated to the purpose of improving the professional standards of the industry and enhancing the value of construction financial managers to their respective companies.

Registration is now open for our Education Summit

What: either the Basics of Construction Accounting all day course OR afternoon breakout sessions 
Where: GVSU Eberhard Center
When: March 22,2017
Cost: $50.00

"The Basics" begins with an overview of the construction industry, then moves from the contract life cycle to job costing issues to financial reporting concerns to issues and processes unique to the construction industry.  Along the way, you'll learn more about your role & responsibilities as your company's construction financial manager and receive the latest industry & benchmarking information to help you in your daily work.


The Breakout Sessions:
Session One: 1:00 P.M. - 2:00 P.M. Choose between:
Mileage/Travel Time, Per Diem - Learn why many employers run into overtime problems and other wage/hour issues with travel time/pay, mileage and "per diem" policies.

Health Insurance Tends & Strategies - Introduction to the state of healthcare, pricing transparency, employee communication, alternative funding methods and cost containment strategies.

Session Two: 3:00 P.M. - 4:30 P.M. Choose between:
Captive Insurance - this session will address enterprise risk management and captive insurance companies.

Revenue Recognition/Leases - Learn about the new revenue recognition accounting standards that will go into effect and the lease accounting changes that will follow.

    Fixed Asset Policy

    I am looking for help with a fixed asset policy. My company purchases small tools and there is always controversy over when to capitalize. Does anyone have something that has worked for them in this scenario. Maybe something you are willing to share?
